The name BYD Bid stands for "Build Your Dream" - "Make your dreams come true." The story of BYD really looks like a dream. Starting with the production of rechargeable batteries for mobile phones, the company very quickly gained leading positions in this segment, taking second place in the world in terms of production. BYD Corporation took its first step in the automotive business in 2003 by acquiring the Sichuan Automobile Company and creating a plant for the production of small cars on its basis. The BYD Flyer model quickly became one of the most popular in China, primarily due to the more than affordable price and simple but extremely reliable design.
Building on the success of the first model, the company began preparations for the “big jerk.” The big changes at BYD began with a change of leadership. Completely replacing top management in 2005, BYD Auto launched a large-scale attack on the automotive market. In just over a year, the corporation developed and prepared for production the BYD F3 sedan - a modern car that is not inferior in quality and equipment to European and Japanese counterparts. The very first appearance of the F3 on the market caused a real sensation - in less than a year, more than 55,000 cars of this model drove to China's roads, which increased BYD Auto's total sales by an unprecedented 450% - an amazing indicator even for the fast-growing Chinese market. Thus, BYD Auto won the title of the fastest growing company among private car manufacturers in China.
The “battery” past of the company also helps it in the automotive business. Thanks to a developed research base, the company has become a leader in the development and production of “clean” cars powered by electricity. At the Beijing International Auto Show held in 2006, the company demonstrated its first electric car, the BYD F3 Electric, which became a real sensation of the exhibition. Another striking premiere of the car dealership was the first BYD F8 rigid convertible coupe in China.
Today, there are two BYD models on the Russian market: the Flyer A-class hatchback, which firmly holds the title of “The Most Affordable Foreign Car in Russia” and the best-seller of the Chinese market BYD F3.
